IEP / 504 Prep Pack - For Parents

It is 11pm before a 9am meeting, you have read every packet online, and you still know you will freeze the moment the table goes quiet and everyone looks at you. This is the workbook you fill in tonight and read off tomorrow. It is for a parent preparing for an IEP or 504 meeting, who wants to walk in with the answers already on the page.

You pre-decide at the kitchen table, you read the meeting-day script off the page, and you log what was said so the follow-up email makes it stick. No memorizing. No improvising under pressure.

What is in the drawer

A printable workbook to carry into the room, a Notion workspace to organize the paper trail, and the AI scaffolding for the late-night prep when no one else is awake.

Print & Editable Files

  • A 16-page printable workbook (A4 and US Letter) - pre-meeting briefing, accommodations menu of 50+ ideas, the meeting-day script you read off the page, in-meeting notes, post-meeting log, follow-up email template, and a parent input statement
  • A Canva-editable companion - 5 printable cards: pre-meeting briefing, meeting-day script, in-meeting notes, post-meeting log, and an AI Access Checklist poster
  • 5 paste-ready advocacy email templates - evaluation request, off-cycle meeting request, 504 plan request, follow-up confirmation, and a disagreement letter
  • An annual review prep checklist with a 6-week runway

Digital Workspaces (Notion)

  • A Notion workspace with 6 databases - Pre-Meeting Briefing, the Accommodations Menu of 50+, In-Meeting Notes, Post-Meeting Log, School Communication Log, and an AI Access Checklist

AI Scaffolding

  • An AI body-double helper with pre-written prompts that open Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity in one tap (drafting the parent input statement, narrowing 50 accommodations down to 5, rehearsing the opener, drafting the follow-up email, naming what is underneath the dysregulation)
  • An AI Access Checklist database with a 4-state permission model, 10 categories pre-seeded with parent-specific defaults (evaluation reports kept closed, signed IEPs kept closed, school communications read with caution)
  • A one-page printable setup PDF to connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Claude Desktop directly to your Notion workspace

Guidance & Support

  • Welcome PDF from Wren
  • Step-by-step quickstart
  • 30-Day Wren Email Support

Why this drawer exists

The free packets out there are genuinely excellent reference reading. The problem is that reading them is not the same as being ready. Parents read, feel informed, walk in, and freeze anyway. This is the other kind of tool. You do not read it. You fill it in, you read off it, and you log into it.

  • Externalize working memory. What you carry in your head fails first under stress. The workbook holds it on the page so the room cannot rattle it loose.
  • Pre-decide everything. Calm decisions at the kitchen table beat pressured decisions across the table. You choose your 5 accommodations the night before, not on the spot.
  • Script the freeze moments. The first 60 seconds, the "if they push back" line, the follow-up email. The hardest moments are written out before you need them.
  • Reduce parent load first. An ADHD parent of an ADHD kid carries extra friction in the room. Simplifying your own state cascades into everything else.
  • Repair mode built in. Forgot to raise something? Log it for the follow-up email. It is recoverable, not lost.
  • Paper trail by default. The follow-up email is what makes a verbal agreement stick. The workbook produces it every time.

What this is not

  • Not legal advice.
  • Not educational advice.
  • Not a substitute for a parent advocate, an attorney, or your child's IEP team.
  • Not a diagnostic tool.
  • Not a guarantee of any outcome. The workbook does not get the accommodations. The IEP team decides. It helps you walk in with the strongest case prepared.
  • For high-stakes correspondence (disagreement letters, anything due-process related), have a parent advocate or special-education attorney review it before you send.
